Chicago, October 21, 2003
WeeBeeTunes Travel Adventures, the animated musical series that teaches children about the world, has been honored with the 2003 Geography Excellence in Media Award (GEM Award). Given by the National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE), the GEM Award is presented annually to media programs that "exhibit outstanding geographic content and teaching methods."

"WeeBeeTunes Travel Adventures is wonderful!" said Robert W. Christopherson, geography author of Geosystems and Chairman of the GEM Task Force. "This media tool constitutes a great contribution to geographic education."

WeeBeeTunes Travel Adventures exposes the world to children at an early age with a goal of increasing their awareness of other cultures, customs, history, and traditions. The series relies on memorable, fact-filled songs, vivid animation, and friendly travel characters to open up the world to children in an engaging way. Encompassing the 18 National Geography Standards, the songs present significant historical events, famous landmarks, cultural festivals, and important ecosystems. Already, educators in over 30 states have begun using WeeBeeTunes Travel Adventures in their classrooms.

WeeBeeTunes Travel Adventures is a product of Girdwood Partners, a Chicago-based children's media venture. Founded in 2000, Girdwood is dedicated to creating innovative and entertaining educational programs of the highest quality and integrity.
